Job Title: Sales Manager (Proposal Manager)
Working Pattern: Bristol/Hybrid (3 days pw)
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead delivery of part of the Defence Combat strategy as part of the Business Development and Future Programmes team. The Sales Manager will lead multi‑functional capture teams to deliver bids, proposals and profitable agreements with key customers. You will create customer value propositions, capture new business opportunities, lead campaigns and collaborate with diverse global teams.
What You Will Be Doing
You will lead complex sales campaigns with customers and partners in key defence markets to win orders that support our strategy and growth ambitions.
You will lead multifunctional capture teams to develop competitive solutions for sales campaigns, and support the definition and execution of campaign strategies for domestic and export opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Influence business functions and programme teams to provide key inputs, guide approval processes, and support development of business cases for Rolls‑Royce and customers.
* Pursue commercial optimisation in proposals, negotiate strong commercial deals balancing risk and reward to achieve robust financial returns.
* Work closely with Defence Government Relations to develop, maintain and execute stakeholder engagement plans and strategic communications for key opportunities and campaigns.
* Contribute to continuous improvements in sales processes and campaign toolkits, collaborating with teammates to grow expertise and skills within the Sales and Business Development teams.
Who We’re Looking For
* A self‑starter with strong business and commercial acumen, able to deal with ambiguity, synthesize complex information, formulate clear actions, and guide teams through winning bids.
* An inclusive, confident communicator with experience engaging and positively influencing at all levels of organisations and stakeholders to build lasting, productive relationships.
* Proven skills in stakeholder management and strong influencing skills, capable of working successfully in a global business with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
* Experience in sales, campaign leadership, customer or supplier negotiation, and/or managing bids and proposals (advantageous).
* Experience in a UK Defence or Governmental business environment (advantageous).
* Legal requirement: holds a Security Check clearance. Rolls‑Royce will support the application for clearance if not already in place and only progress applications from UK nationals or, in MoD approved cases, dual nationals.
