Tutor – Providing A Truly Individualised Learning Experience A thoughtful and committed family is seeking a Tutor to work 1:1 with their bright and intellectually curious child. This is a part-time, long-term opportunity (initially 10 hours per week, built gradually) to co-create a learning experience that is shaped around the child’s passions, strengths, and emotional readiness. The Role Includes: * Designing and delivering a flexible curriculum through tasks that align with the child’s cognitive strengths (particularly in Science alongside other STEM subject areas), with minimal perceived demand. * Using real-life contexts, video modelling, and engaging content to scaffold learning in ways that feel motivating and meaningful. * Supporting the child’s readiness for learning by accommodating pacing, regulation needs, and fluctuating capacity for engagement. * Embedding co-regulation strategies and supported movement throughout sessions to promote emotional and sensory regulation. * Building a trusted relationship and delivering learning in a way that feels safe, engaging, and empowering—allowing the child to build on their existing joy of learning through real-world exploration, curiosity-led inquiry, and autonomy. * Attending termly and annual meetings and contributing to written reports that advocate for the child’s short-, medium-, and long-term needs. The Tutor Must: * Have experience working 1:1 with neurodivergent young people, including those with autism, ADHD, and PDA/demand avoidance. * Be trained in neurodivergence, sensory processing, and trauma-informed, neuroaffirming practice. * Be confident using indirect, non-directive language and low demand-style communication. * Be skilled in interpreting verbal and non-verbal cues to assess emotional readiness and engagement. * Be familiar with visual scaffolding tools and flexible scheduling strategies to support autonomy and reduce demand. * Be capable of engaging with A-level and degree-level content in science-related subjects, and delivering it in a way that feels accessible, relevant, and non-traditional. An ex-teacher / previous teaching background would be suitable. * Hold relevant DBS on the updates system or be willing to get this Why This Role Is Unique and Rewarding: * You’ll have the opportunity to support a highly capable and inquisitive young person with a real passion for Science subject areas and beyond. * The role offers the freedom to co-create a learning experience that is truly centred around the child—free from rigid structures and focused on what inspires and motivates. * You’ll be part of a small, trusted team working together to support the child’s sensory, emotional, and learning needs with consistency and care. * Sessions are built gradually and flexibly, allowing you to establish strong relational safety and work at a pace that supports the child’s readiness for learning. * This is a long-term opportunity to build a stable, trusted relationship with a young person who thrives when supported by adults who understand and respect their profile of needs. Location: In-person, within the family home in the Huddersfield area To Apply: If you are a neuroaffirming, enabling tutor with the skills and experience to support a bright young person in a truly individualised way—and you’re ready to help a child flourish through curiosity, trust, and connection—we would love to hear from you
