JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: CNC Miller - Durham
Reporting to: General manager
Responsibilities
* Selecting the cutting tools for machining operations using CNC or conventional lathes
* Mounting and dismounting workpieces on/from lathe
* Performing roughing and finishing operations
* Checking finished pieces to ensure compliance with technical drawings
* Carrying out maintenance of Milling machine and tools
* Cleaning machine and work area, e.g. removing swarf / chips
Attributes
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
* Ability to use CNC milling machines
* Knowledge of industrial machining techniques
* Ability to use measuring equipment for quality control checks
* Knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and procedures for machine tools
* Strong manual skills
* Reliability, precision and attention to detail
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow instructions
* Flexible approach to work hours and willingness to work shifts
Key Skills and Experience
Essential
* Apprentice trained time served engineer with detailed hands‑on specific manufacturing experience with an ever‑changing product portfolio.
* Experience of AS9100 environment or similar quality environment
* Appropriate technical machining and quality knowledge using a variety manufacturing methods and materials.
* Detailed knowledge and understanding of OHSE in the workplace
* Successful implementation of positive change management projects
Desirable
* Problem solving ability
* Ability to program and part program at the machines
* Experience of leading continuous improvement strategy and implementing process improvements.
* Milling experience.
