Brain Injury Support Worker
Location: Enfield, North London
Pay Rate:
Waking: £16 per hour weekdays, £18 per hour weekends.
Sleep in :
Sleep in (11pm 7am):£93.60 flat rate during weekdays (remaining 4.25 hours of shift at applicable waking rate) / £106.80 flat rate during weekends (remaining 4.25 hours of shift at applicable waking rate).
Hours required:
Day shifts are 7.45am 8.00pm, Monday to Sunday
Night shifts are 7.45pm 8.00am, Monday to Sunday
Reporting to: Case Manager and Support Worker Team Leader
Current Vacancy: Tuesday and Friday night shift, and cover for other shifts as and when needed
JOB DESCRIPTION
Overall Purpose:
To provide the best possible care and support to the client, who sustained a Brain Injury (BI), including that which supports her recovery, well-being and ongoing rehabilitation.
Main Duties
To use therapeutic skills to support the client with her usual activities, such as personal care, medication, phone calls and texts to family members, and leisure activities such as watching films. She does not tend to go out in the evenings, so the evening role will be based at her flat.
The client has an unsettled sleep pattern at present, and so the shifts may be waking or sleeping night shifts. If this settles the shifts will move to sleeping nights, as they were previously.
Contributing to the planning of meaningful activity for the client and motivating the client.
To prompt and assist with cleaning and tidying clients area.
Supporting the client with re-establishing a routine of sleep and rest.
To be aware of the cognitive and behavioural challenges the client has as a result of her injuries and how to support her appropriately.
To ensure the client is able to maintain her maximum level of independence and provide prompting and assistance as appropriate.
To be aware of any significant changes in the clients health functioning or behaviour and to report this immediately.
To ensure you maintain records as required. This will include making notes on all activities carried out with the client throughout the shift.
To ensure consistency of approach.
Other Duties
To undertake any other duties as may be necessary consistent with the objectives of the post, as required.
To support the client to maintain and develop a variety of relationships (i.e., families, friends and professionals).
To support the client with daily tasks (i.e. cleaning, laundry, ironing and other household tasks to an appropriate standard).
To support the client with social skills and to promote independence, as appropriate.
To ensure that all documentation is accurately updated i.e. Daily Notes, etc.
To assist with any best interest decision making.
To attend team meeting online and in person when needed.
