Mission of the position

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for analysing, maintaining, and improving organisational performance. Carry out action plans to improve operational performance measurement General: Improvement of operational performance, compliance with Continuous Improvement roadmap commitments, deployment of Lean manufacturing Culture.


Functions and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities



Deployment



1. Leading Lean culture and Continuous Improvement initiatives on CAF Rolling Stock UK sites

2. Implement TIER Accountability Process across Factory

3. Promote a culture of operational excellence by anchoring and supporting implementation on the ground

4. Pilot and support Kaizen projects target using Lean tools to target and benefit from improvements.

5. Proactively identify improvement actions to deploy to increase our operational performance

6. Deploy Value stream Mapping process on a regular basis

7. Deployment in the field (training + digitalization of tools) of first-level continuous improvement methodologies (suggestions idea, kaizen, 5S, 5 whys, PDCA, A3, etc.),

8. Gemba

9. Encourages, participates.

10. Conducts internal lean audits

11. Proposes, structures and leads continuous improvement projects

12. Ensure a strong presence in the departments and support to encourage creativity

13. Conducts welcome training for new arrivals


Training required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge of implementing key lean manufacturing principles, tools, techniques, project management principles

ü



Able to lead workshop and kaizen activity in link with Lean tools: 5S/ VSM / SMED / KAIZEN site/ Problem solving with CAF standards

ü



Leadership capacity.

ü



Innovation, performance and Change management oriented

ü



Lead on CI improvement initiatives and projects.

ü



IT skills, familiar with Microsoft packages.

ü



Able to stay motivated, positive and focussed whilst working in a challenging environment.

ü



Flexible, and able to adapt to changing circumstances. improvement.

ü



Able to take ownership and responsibility of own work.

ü



Knowledge and experience of promoting safe working practices in a safety critical workplace.

ü



Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

ü



Able to work well autonomously and as part of a team.
