Overview
2026 Graduate Programme - Communities - Local Government (Engineering). We are recruiting Graduates for Communities Engineering teams in Gloucestershire (Bridge Engineering), Lincoln (Highways Engineering), Exeter (Highways and Bridge Engineering), Cardiff (Structures & Infrastructure), and Norfolk (Highways and Infrastructure Engineering). Roles involve working with local authorities on transport, urban regeneration, flood risk, funding, and infrastructure improvement. The programme provides a blend of public and private sector skills and a two-year Graduate Development programme with training, mentoring, and on-the-job experience.
Responsibilities
* Support delivery of highway, bridge, and structural projects for local authorities across specified regions.
* Assist in inspection, design, and supervision of bridge and infrastructure schemes.
* Produce options reports, technical designs, drawings, and works packages; contribute to contract documentation and procurement processes.
* Participate in site investigations, inspections, data collection, and evaluation to inform design and decision-making.
* Support project delivery from concept to completion, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
* Assist in planning and development activities aligned with asset management and council strategies, including net zero and digital service delivery considerations.

Programme & Development
* Two-year Graduate Development Programme with blended learning, training, mentoring, and opportunities for professional registration (Chartered status) with ICE and IStructE.
* Structured to support personal and professional growth, with early career guidance and networking opportunities.
What We Look For
* Graduates with at least a 2:1 in a relevant master’s or bachelor’s degree.
* Interest in consulting and engineering; passion for the built environment; creativity and problem-solving drive.
* Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders and adapt to dynamic project environments.
* Eligibility for the Early Careers recruitment process and willingness to start in April or September 2026.
