PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. Purpose of the role: The BBC Youth Audiences team is looking for a YouTube Factual Channel Manager to help run and grow BBC channels with the aim of bringing smart, purposeful storytelling to young audiences aged 16-24 in the UK. Reporting to the Factual YouTube Editor, you\'ll be at the heart of day-to-day publishing. You\'ll manage weekly uploads, keep channels looking sharp, and help our content reach audiences on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. It\'s a hands-on role for someone who knows the platform, has an eye for detail, and is passionate about factual content.
Responsibilities
* Manage weekly publishing across BBC YouTube channels.
* Source and select existing BBC factual content to feature.
* Prepare titles, descriptions, tags, end screens and thumbnails in line with YouTube best practice.
* Keep a consistent tone and visual style across all uploads.
* Use tools like YouTube Studio to track performance and audience behaviour.
* Report on growth, engagement and watch time, sharing insights with the team.
* Support testing and optimisation of titles, thumbnails, descriptions and formats.
* Keep publishing trackers, calendars and workflows up to date.
* Help with community management, shaping a clear and engaging tone of voice.
Qualifications
* Experience publishing content on YouTube and at least one other platform (TikTok, Instagram or Facebook).
* Confidence using YouTube Studio to manage uploads, metadata, thumbnails and Shorts.
* Good understanding of how titles, thumbnails and metadata can drive performance.
* Organised, reliable and comfortable managing multiple uploads each week.
* An analytical mindset, with experience using platform insights to guide decisions.
* A collaborative approach, working well across editorial, creative and social teams.
* Interest in factual storytelling and reaching young audiences through public service content.
* Basic editing skills (e.g. Canva, CapCut, Photoshop or Premiere) are essential.
