Site Engineer - Contract (Devonport, Plymouth)
Location: Devonport, Plymouth (full-time site based)
Rate: Up to £430/day (Umbrella PAYE, all-in)
Hours: 45 hours per week (approx. 08:00-17:00)
Contract: Ongoing contract role
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support delivery on a major infrastructure project at Devonport, working within a live MOD environment. This is a hands-on, site-based role reporting into line management, with responsibility for setting out, engineering compliance, quality assurance, and day-to-day site support.
Security & Eligibility (Essential)
Due to the nature of the project, candidates must be eligible for BPSS clearance (process can take up to 8 weeks).
To be considered, you must meet one of the following criteria:
Hold current valid UK security clearance, or
Be a British passport holder, or
Have resided in the UK continuously for the past 5 years
Key Responsibilities
Carry out accurate setting out using site control within required tolerances
Produce and maintain as-built records and drawing registers
Support site quality assurance through inspections, surveys, and checks
Record testing of materials and workmanship (e.g. RC, drainage, piling)
Provide technical support to site teams and resolve engineering queries
Maintain and manage calibration records for survey equipment
Complete daily site diaries and maintain progress trackers
Support site HSE, environmental, and quality inspections
Assist with procurement of materials and site equipment
Requirements
Proven experience as a Site Engineer on major construction or infrastructure projects
Strong setting-out capability (Leica GPS / Total Station preferred)
Experience working with reinforced concrete structures and system formwork
Relevant civil engineering qualification (desirable)Tickets & Compliance (Essential):
Valid CSCS card (White AQP)
Supervisor-level HSE testAdditional Experience:
Familiarity with QMS and RAMS
Experience working in regulated or MOD environments (highly desirable)
