HR Administrator / Advisor Salary: Up to £32,000 DOE Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm (40 hours) Reports to: HR Manager Key Skills & Qualifications CIPD Level 3 (minimum) Basic understanding of employment law (e.g., fair dismissal, discrimination) Strong written and verbal communication skills Confident challenging existing processes Good MS Office skills (Excel & Word) Resilient and able to work with ambiguity Committed to continuous professional development Experience: At least 2 years in a fast-paced HR environment (manufacturing preferred but not essential). Main Responsibilities 1. HR Administration & Employee Records Keep employee records accurate and up to date Issue contracts and HR letters Maintain online HR filing systems Track probation periods and flag any concerns Ensure data protection compliance Suggest improvements to HR processes 2. Recruitment & Onboarding Coordinate recruitment with candidates and hiring managers Arrange interviews and support logistics Manage offers and onboarding through Workable (ATS) Complete right-to-work checks using Right Check Provide recruitment status updates Support induction and onboarding paperwork 3. Payroll Support Maintain accurate employee data for payroll Notify payroll of changes (starters, leavers, leave, SSP, unpaid leave etc.) Direct employees to the right support for pay queries 4. Absence & Leave Management Track daily sickness and leave Support absence management processes Advise managers on leave policies Produce daily absence reports Issue and record return-to-work forms 5. Policy & Compliance Help share and maintain HR policies Support compliance with employment law and internal procedures Keep HR templates and documents updated 6. Employee Relations Support Provide first-line HR support to employees and managers Prepare disciplinary documentation Arrange meetings and take minutes Support or lead disciplinary cases up to Final Written Warning Escalate issues to HR Managers when needed 7. Systems Support access to internal communication system (Roots) Manage joiner and leaver access Manage secure door access for new starters and leavers Build expertise in the ATS system Maintain strong knowledge of right-to-work processes 8. General HR Support Attend weekly meetings Respond to routine HR queries (email, phone, HR reception) Support HR projects as needed Act as a general point of contact for HR admin Manage the employee locker system Development Opportunities Step in for the HR Manager when required Take on employee relations casework (disciplinary, grievance, performance, flexible working) Attend Tier 1 and Tier 2 management meetings Help update job descriptions Support manager training on recruitment and selection Contribute to recruitment campaigns Monitor recruitment and retention metrics Support performance management processes Help update HR policies in line with legislation Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.
