Senior Cardiac Physiologist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team. We are an innovative and stimulating department, offering high quality, safe and compassionate care to patients are their relatives. We deliver high quality training and have recently been awarded Training Hospital of the Year by BJCA. We have excellent links with Health Education England BHRS and BSE. We empower our physiologists and offer development into Physiologist Lead Services.
We have a thriving Cardiac Rhythm Management service with regular hybrid clinics involving a specialist CRM consultant and specialist cardiac physiologist. We also have an established support group for our patients and have been shortlisted for awards recognising quality improvement and innovation.
We run a catheter laboratory offering diagnostic angiography and implant of pacemakers and defibrillators. We also offer regular support to allied accreditation bodies such as Heart Rhythm Society and British Society of Echocardiography and have highly skilled staff who have represented us at their associated national conferences.

Main duties of the job
To be successful in your application you should have specialist knowledge in a range of diagnostics preformed within cardiology including interpretation of 12 lead ECGs and ambulatory monitors. You must act as a senior physiologist undertaking training of other physiologists or staff groups when required. You should act as a role model to others adopting an inclusive and supportive leadership style.

Job responsibilities
* Required to perform, supervise and report a broad range of cardiac investigations including 12 Lead Electrocardiographs (ECG), fit and remove 24 hour Ambulatory ECG Monitors, Event Recorders and 24 hour Blood Pressure Monitors (with ECG), Exercise Tolerance Testing (ETT), Ambulatory ECG Analysis, Event Recorder Analysis.
* Pacemaker implants and follow up clinics on both in-patients and out patients.
* Willingness to be trained in adult echocardiography.
* Training of junior technical staff.
* To provide technical leadership to ensure highest standards of skill, interpretation, reporting and treatments are developed and maintained within resource constraints.
* To maintain confidentiality at all times.
* To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Professional Registration
* Formal training through Clinical Physiology degree, extensive post qualification experience
* Relevant professional courses and qualifications e.g. interpretation, Ambulatory ECG Monitoring Techniques and Practice, Cardiac pacing courses including dual chamber optimization and basic echocardiography
* NVQ D32 Assessors qualification or equivalent to assess degree students
Experience and knowledge
* Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
* Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
* Appropriate training and experience with Pacing, implant and follow up pacing clinics.
