About the Employer A disabled 32-year-old man living in Marks Tey is seeking a highly capable, experienced, and emotionally resilient Lead Personal Assistant / Care Coordinator to provide practical support, complex administration assistance, advocacy, and coordination within a small personal support team. This is not a standard care role. It requires someone intelligent, organised, proactive, and experienced in supporting people with significant disabilities, neurodivergence, trauma, and complex health conditions. The employer is a wheelchair user and largely housebound, living with fibromyalgia, hypermobility spectrum disorder, chronic venous insufficiency, hidradenitis suppurativa, autism, ADHD, and complex PTSD. Support needs fluctuate significantly and can at times be intensive and fast-changing. This role would suit someone with a strong background in complex care, disability support, advocacy, social care systems, or high-level support coordination. 2. Disabilities / Health Conditions The employer is autistic and can sometimes become verbally intense, blunt, loud, or swear during periods of overwhelm, pain, stress, or autistic meltdown. Communication can be extremely direct and unfiltered at times. This role is not suitable for someone highly sensitive, easily intimidated, or uncomfortable around emotional dysregulation, chronic stress, trauma, or neurodivergence. Helping interpret letters, reports, and official communications • Assisting with complaints processes, including Ombudsman complaints • Communicating with Essex County Council and healthcare/social care professionals • Helping organise paperwork, appointments, and ongoing case management • Assisting with disability-related administration and benefit-related tasks • Supporting with Universal Credit (UC), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), reviews, forms, and related processes when required • Providing practical advocacy and helping ensure important issues are followed up appropriately • Assisting with budgeting, financial organisation, and practical decision-making support • Helping maintain structure and continuity during periods of overwhelm, illness, or reduced functioning There is a significant amount of administration involved in this role. Strong literacy/numeracy, organisation, confidence with systems/processes, computer literacy, and the ability to manage complex situations calmly are essential. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed. • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks. • Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication. • Assist with household chores and general homemaking. • Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors. • Support with food shopping. • Support the individual to look after/care for pets. • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities. • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities. • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities. • Promote and encourage friendships and independence. • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship. • Support with managing paperwork & correspondence. • Support with gardening. and Transfer and mobility support • Assistance with wound care and health-related needs • Driving the employer’s manual Motability vehicle.
