Overview
Job Summary
Maintain PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, and automation systems

Calibrate sensors, transmitters, load cells, and measuring devices

Troubleshoot control system failures and communication issues

Support process optimization and system upgrades

Monitor control room alarms and automation performance

Ensure reliability of weighing and monitoring systems-support for automation equipment (Automated robotic equipment, pneumatics, sensors, barcode reading equipment, PLC’s, mechanical Box machinery, automated conveyor systems)

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.

Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults efficiently, minimising downtime.

Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately.

Use AutoCAD software to assist in designing or modifying electrical layouts as required.

Programme, test, and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to ensure seamless automation processes.

Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute scheduled work efficiently.

Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for compliance purposes.

Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal or external client needs promptly and professionally.

Requirements

Proven experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Proficiency in using AutoCAD for electrical design modifications.

Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) programming and troubleshooting.

Mechanical knowledge is advantageous for integrated system maintenance.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised certification.

Duties

Install, calibrate, and maintain automation systems and instrumentation equipment in accordance with technical specifications.

Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to troubleshoot issues effectively.

Programme, test, and optimise programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to ensure seamless operation of automated processes.

Utilise AutoCAD for designing modifications or new layouts of instrumentation systems as required.

Conduct routine maintenance checks and perform repairs to minimise downtime and enhance system reliability.

Collaborate with engineering teams to develop system upgrades and implement process improvements.

Provide technical support to operational staff, ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely.

Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, system configurations, and modifications for compliance purposes.

Experience

Proven experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in an industrial environment.

Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience relevant to automation systems.

Proficiency in reading schematics and technical drawings; experience with AutoCAD is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance tasks on complex instrumentation and control systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting automation issues swiftly and effectively.

Customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-specialist colleagues.

Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred but not essential; relevant training will be provided for the right candidate.
