Job Title: Care Club Playworker
Reports to: Care Club Manager/Deputy
2. JOB PURPOSE:
To actively work and participate under the direction of the Care Club Manager/Deputy Manager to provide safe, high quality play for children aged 4 – 11 years of age.
To build links and work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to promote the well-being of the children.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* To support the Club Supervisor in planning and implementing daily activities to meet children's needs. Ensure children are safely escorted from St Andrew’s site to Care Club as required.
* To work with staff to maintain the Club's tidiness, cleanliness, and hygiene, and advise the Club Supervisor of concerns regarding children, parents, or equipment safety, maintaining confidentiality as necessary.
* To support the Club Supervisor in maintaining relevant records and attending staff meetings and training sessions as required.
* To undertake other duties of an equivalent nature as determined by the Club Supervisor.
* To be aware of and implement national and local guidelines to safeguard and promote children's well-being.
* To direct parents with concerns or queries to the Club Supervisor.
* In the absence of the Supervisor, the Deputy Supervisor will take on supervisory responsibilities, and reports should be made to her.
4. WORK CONTENT:
The government aims to extend childcare beyond traditional school environments by introducing Breakfast/After School Clubs. The post holder will act as a role model, communicating effectively with children, parents, and professionals to maintain standards of behaviour and provide feedback. The role is mainly reactive, requiring little planning or evaluation.
5. PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Education, Training, and Work Qualifications
* Good standard of general education (Essential)
* Paediatric First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
Knowledge
* Basic understanding of food hygiene (Essential)
* Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities, and confidentiality (Desirable)
* Understanding of relevant national regulations and guidance (Desirable)
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to provide and facilitate inclusive, safe, and creative play
* Good communication skills with diverse groups and individuals
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Use of common sense
* Ability to carry out responsibilities within an equal opportunities framework
Relevant Experience
* Experience working with children aged 4-11 years (Desirable)
* Experience in multi-agency and partnership working (Desirable)
