Offer description

We are looking for enthusiastic, patient focused, hard working individual who can join our Radiology team as a Radiology Department Assistant (RDA).

With a view to expanding our service to seven days, with flexibility to work 8-6 or 8-8 cross site to increase capacity and offer greater access for the patients we serve. Radiology are looking for full or part-time staff. Flexible hours are expected as well as working weekends as part of a rota.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE WILL NOT BE SPONSORED. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK independently, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.


Main duties of the job

The candidate must be flexible, dynamic, patient focused and able to work as part of a team. interprofessional communication skills is essential working alongside Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and other healthcare workers.

This post is a cross site position at both Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Marys Sidcup Hospital, and also the Community Diagnostic Centre, based in Dartford. Both hospitals are part of Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust which is a progressive and forward thinking Trust serving a growing local population of 340,000.

We have an extensive range of modalities including DR, CT, MRI, ultrasound, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, bone densitometry, interventional and cardiac angiography and all aspects of general and fluoroscopic radiography.

Person Specification


Personal Attributes

* Polite, pleasant and understanding manner
* Ability to work well under pressure
* Ability to be adaptable to meet changing needs
* Willing to participate in out of hours working including evenings and weekends (as part of a rota)
* Able to travel across a diverse area in a timely and efficient manner


Education and Training

* Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent
* Health care related NVQ


Knowledge and Skills

* Able to work effectively in an Imaging department
* Good communication skills both written and verbal
* Knowledge of general radiological procedures
* Working knowledge of radiation protection issues, including the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations and the local rules
* Ability to work safely, avoiding the hazards that may be encountered in Radiology
* Ability to prioritise workload
* Perform IV cannulation
* Able to work as part of a team
* Good interpersonal skills
* Good customer care skills
* Awareness of NHS agenda


Experience

* Previous experience of working in the NHS or with patients
* Experience of work involving dealing with members of the public
* Previous experience as a radiography helper
* Previous HCA experience
