The position will involve working as part of a small team collecting hydrometric field data. Working on various projects data will be collected on groundwater levels, surface water levels, water quality and stream flows. Data is collected using manual techniques, data loggers and flow gauging kits.

The role will be primarily field-based and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions at sites across Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire, with occasional work in other parts of the UK and internationally if required. The type of sites at which the work will be undertaken are typically nature reserves, wetland habitats, and ecologically sensitive environments.

A typical week could include:

* Carrying out hydrometric monitoring fieldwork activities, either as a lone worker or as part of a two person team – typically involving measuring groundwater levels, surface water levels and flow in small rivers/streams;
* Communicating and liaising effectively with other team members and landowners;
* Managing health and safety aspects when on site;
* Undertaking detailed field work planning;
* Preparing and submitting data reports.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

* Full training will be provided; however, qualifications/past experience in hydrometric monitoring and working outdoors would be advantageous.
* Full driving licence;
* Physically fit, able to swim and happy working outdoors in all weather conditions;
* A good knowledge of Microsoft Office and excellent IT skills;
