Contract: 6‑month contract (Umbrella)IR35: Inside IR35Location Birmingham We are seeking an experienced Interim Town Planner to support the delivery of planning services within a busy local authority environment. This is a key interim role, offering an immediate start and apetitive day rate of £450.About the RoleReporting to the Planning Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining service performance, managing a varied caseload of planning applications, and providing professional planning advice to officers, members, and stakeholders.Key responsibilities will include:
1. Managing and determining a caseload of planning applications in line with statutory requirements
2. Providing expert planning advice and rmendations
3. Preparing and presenting reports to planningmittees
4. Engaging with developers, agents, consultees, and the public
5. Supporting policy implementation and development management processes
6. Ensuring decisions are robust, defensible, and aligned with national and local planning policy
Essential Requirements
7. Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
8. Proven experience working within a UK local authority planning service
9. Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, legislation, and policy framework
10. Ability to manageplex applications and work to tight deadlines
11. Excellentmunication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
