Job Role
The Test Technician is responsible for the daily testing and verification of products within the Production department, ensuring all activities comply with company procedures, Health & Safety regulations, and environmental standards. The role supports the achievement of production targets by ensuring product quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct testing of products in line with predefined Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs).
Program and verify PCB assemblies with the correct software revisions.
Carry out and set up electrical soak testing where required.
Verify incoming pre-programmed PCB assemblies for accuracy and revision control.
Support the development and improvement of new and existing test equipment.
Review and proofread test procedures (ATP/PATP) before release to production.
Validate test equipment and setups prior to production use.
Identify and communicate any issues or risks to the Testing Supervisor or Production Manager promptly.
Work closely with all departments to ensure smooth production flow and adherence to schedules.
Support other production areas as required to ensure efficient delivery of products.
Apply and promote Lean Manufacturing techniques where appropriate.
Deputise for the Testing Supervisor when required.
Undertake additional duties as directed by management.Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in a production testing environment.
Experience working with small batch, high-mix production environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Familiarity with SMD components and electronic assemblies.
Experience using test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
Working knowledge of programming tools (e.g., MPLAB, SEGGER).
Understanding of quality standards such as ISO9001 and AS9100D.
Proficient in PC use, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.Qualifications
Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C), including Maths and English (or equivalent).
City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Electronics (preferred).
Relevant experience in an electronics or manufacturing environment.
