Fabrication Workshop Technician E-ppl are leading suppliers of Managed Services to the automotive industry, working with major OEMs across the UK and overseas. We are a specialist contractor that OEMs rely on to support their vehicle projects, from meticulously planned launch support to reactive quality campaigns. Our projects are fully managed, offering a complete turnkey solution to our customers. An exciting opportunity has arisen at E-ppl for a skilled and experienced Fabrication Workshop Technician to provide specialist support to one of our premium customers. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the production of metal parts and structures, including accurately cutting, shaping, and joining metal components according to technical drawings and specifications. The role involves setting, operating, and programming manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, guillotines, and presses. You will produce and modify components from various ferrous and non-ferrous materials for departments like Engine Build, Electronic Drive Unit Build, and on-site Test Facilities. Key Responsibilities: · Reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings to ensure precise part creation. · Preparing raw materials, such as steel, aluminium, and stainless steel, by measuring and cutting. · Setting, operating, and programming 3-axis CNC machinery. · Utilizing manual turning and milling techniques. · Performing various welding methods (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick welding) and other joining techniques like riveting or bolting. · Operating a variety of workshop equipment, including press brakes, shears, drills, and grinders. · Performing self-inspection and quality control on finished products using precision measuring tools like callipers and micrometers. · Maintaining a safe and clean workstation and performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment. Requirements Technical Proficiency: A strong background in fabrication and welding techniques is essential. Certifications, such as those from the American Welding Society (AWS), are highly valued. Attention to Detail: The ability to work with precision and ensure parts are manufactured to exact specifications is crucial. Problem-Solving: The capacity to troubleshoot issues that arise during fabrication, such as machinery malfunctions or material defects. Physical Stamina: The job involves lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working in various physical positions. Safety Awareness: A deep understanding of workshop safety procedures is non-negotiable. Education: Most roles require a high school diploma or equivalent. A vocational school degree or an apprenticeship in a relevant field can significantly improve job prospects. Benefits Hours: Monday – Friday, with possible weekend overtime at a premium rate. Contract: Ongoing contract, paid via limited company or umbrella company - Outside of IR35.
