Role Overview
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, build, and support secure end‑to‑end mobility and communication solutions for customer and internal projects. You’ll work on a mix of infrastructure, cloud, and automation technologies, supporting the full lifecycle from deployment to Level 3 support.
Typical Duties
* Installing, configuring, and administering Linux‑based infrastructure (Ubuntu/RHEL) and virtualised environments (vSphere, vCenter).
* Writing Ansible playbooks and using IaC tools to automate deployment of infrastructure and cloud services.
* Managing secure AWS cloud environments and supporting cross‑domain solutions.
* Creating and maintaining system architecture documentation and ensuring environments meet CIS security standards.
* Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues in collaboration with support teams.
* Supporting and maintaining infrastructure in secure and air‑gapped environments.
* Researching and integrating new technologies to enhance system performance and security.
Skills and Experience
* Advanced Linux system administration with practical experience in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and automation using Ansible.
* Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP), PKI/certificate management, and virtualisation (VMware).
* Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containerised environments (Docker).
* Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK) and version control systems.
* Working knowledge of cross‑domain solutions and operating within secure, air‑gapped environments.
* Solid grasp of CI/CD principles and infrastructure as code in secure environments.
* Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills with a customer‑focused mindset.

Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
* 2–5+ years’ experience in a Linux or Infrastructure Engineering role.
* Be a British Citizen.
* Hold or be eligible for NSV – DV (please see thegov.uk for guidance).
