1. Supporting patients to make choices about their care and ensuring that those choices are respected.
2. Collect patients from the ward and escort them to theatre, acting as the 3rd person in the anaesthetic room.
3. Inform the registered practitioner of any concerns regarding the patient so they can assess the patient in a timely manner.
4. Dispose of bodily fluids, soiled linen, spillages, etc., in accordance with Trust policy and guidelines.
5. Support patients undergoing procedures physically and psychologically during and after.
6. Act as a messenger and porter for supplies, specimens, records, equipment, or any other items required for patient care.
7. Assist the registered practitioner with and support patients through admission, transfer, and discharge.
8. Support in providing basic life support procedures as per Trust policy.
9. Assist in restocking supplies and maintaining equipment, reporting issues to the registered practitioner.
10. Adhere to standards and procedures that ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
11. Keep areas clutter-free.
This role is a Band 2 post, with potential to progress to Band 3 after one year of experience in a Theatre Health Care Support Worker role and completion of the HCSW Theatre Department Skills training program.
