The role
Joining our Public Sector Audit team
What is Public Sector Audit?
Our Public Sector Audit team works with a wide range of organisations including NHS trusts, central government departments, local authorities, and emergency services. As a Public Sector Audit Associate, you'll gain hands-on experience across the full audit cycle, from planning and fieldwork to completion, while collaborating with colleagues across audit and other service lines.
Your role as a Public Sector Audit Associate
* Assist with audits for NHS organisations, local councils, and government departments.
* Review findings from internal audit reports and document internal processes and controls.
* Select samples for audit testing and complete audit tests for manager review.
* Contribute to audit findings reports and client recommendations.
* Work from both local offices and client or law firm premises depending on the assignment.
* Support project administration including client onboarding and conflict checks.
* Develop project management skills as you grow in confidence and experience.
Your Training & Support
You'll receive structured training in audit methodology, public sector regulations, and client engagement. You'll be supported by experienced mentors and work on real audits that make a difference to public services.
You'll build skills in data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication, with access to digital tools and guidance from our public sector specialists.
Qualifications
This placement may result in opportunities to return as a graduate and complete a professional qualification such as the ACA (England & Wales) or ICAS (Scotland).
