About the Role

Busy Buttons CORE Charity is seeking a dedicated and experienced Education and Curriculum Lead to design and deliver high-quality educational programmes for children and young people, including those who are excluded or hard to reach.

The post holder will take responsibility for the development of innovative curricula, creative learning pathways, and wellbeing programmes that support personal growth and reintegration into education. They will work directly with young people through group activities and 1:1 sessions, while also providing leadership in curriculum design, teaching practice, and programme evaluation.

This role is central to ensuring the charity continues to deliver impactful, inclusive education that meets the needs of some of the most vulnerable children in our community.


Key Responsibilities


Curriculum Development & Education

* Design and implement creative, skills-based curricula for the charity’s Alternative Provision.
* Develop tailored educational programmes that promote re-engagement in learning for excluded and hard-to-reach children.
* Create and deliver 1:1 sessions to support young people with complex needs, ensuring individual progress and wellbeing.
* Integrate creative approaches (arts, media, design, and digital skills) into learning activities to inspire participation and achievement.
* Evaluate programme effectiveness and adapt content to ensure high standards and positive outcomes.


Programme Leadership & Delivery

* Lead on the delivery of Creative Wellbeing Programmes that support emotional, social, and academic development.
* Facilitate workshops, projects, and learning activities that engage a wide range of learners across the community.
* Ensure all education provision aligns with safeguarding, quality assurance, and best practice in teaching and learning.


Management & Support

* Work closely with the Creative Director and programme staff to ensure integration of education and community arts provision.
* Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to staff and volunteers involved in educational delivery.
* Support monitoring and reporting requirements for trustees, funders, and partners.


Person Specification


Essential

* Experience in teaching and curriculum design, particularly with excluded or hard-to-reach young people.
* Strong understanding of inclusive and creative educational practice.
* Proven track record in developing and delivering programmes that re-engage learners in education.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with young people, families, and stakeholders.
* Experience in leading 1:1 and small group sessions with measurable outcomes.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.


Desirable

* Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent) and/or substantial teaching experience.
* Experience of working in alternative provision, youth work, or community education settings.
* Skills in creative and technical disciplines such as media, design, or fabrication.
