Pine Media: Fibre Engineer Role
About Pine Media: Pine Media, an independent Internet Service Provider in Sheffield, is both an FTTP network builder and ISP delivering service for businesses and residents in South Yorkshire & Derbyshire. We're building our own network, utilising Openreach structures as well as our own. We build using similar methodologies to Openreach (Prysmian joints to both overhead and underground CBTs) and so any experience on this network will be directly transferable.
Position Overview: We're looking for an experienced fibre engineer to join our team. This role involves collaboration with the Fibre Network Delivery team, which builds our fibre infrastructure and our Service Delivery team, which connects our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Auditing & Quality Assurance: You will be responsible for ensuring our network is built to the highest quality standards by training other engineers auditing work, rectifying defects.
Lead to Cash (L2C): Installation of overhead/underground connections, cable installation inside premises, and cable splicing at customer splice points.
Fibre Network Delivery (FND): Support in deploying new network, installing underground and overhead cabling, CBTs, and fibre jointing high and low fibre count cables.
Job Requirements:
* Minimum two years of relevant experience.
* Valid UK driving license (held for at least 2 years).
* NRSWA street works Operative unit 2 card, SA001, S008 certifications.
* Proficiency in fusion splicing, familiarity with the Openreach network and Prysmian joints.
* Skills in risk assessment, organisation, communication, manual handling, and team collaboration.
Employment Details:
* Type: Full-time (Permanent PAYE)
* Salary: £35000/year OTE (PAYE)
* Schedule: Monday to Friday, 0800-1700 on-site work within 1 hour of Sheffield.

Requirements
• Experience: Prior experience in fibre installation, network maintenance, or a similar field-based role is beneficial but not essential. • Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence held for at least two years. • Certifications: NRSWA Street Works Operative Unit 2 card, SA001, SA002 (beneficial but not essential) • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of fusion splicing, fibre routing, and Openreach networks is an advantage. • Teamwork & Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues to complete projects to a high standard. • Problem-Solving: A practical approach to diagnosing and resolving network issues efficiently. • Manual Handling: Physically capable of working in field-based environments, handling tools and equipment safely. • Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of industry regulations and commitment to adhering to safety guidelines. • Willingness to Learn: Enthusiasm to develop technical skills and specialise in different areas of fibre network operations.
