Job Purpose

Reporting to the VP and Head of Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Medicine (CPQM) within the Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation Research Unit (RIIRU), the Head of Clinical and Translational Imaging at RIIRU is responsible for leading and innovating the deployment of advanced clinical imaging technologies (such as PET, MRI, and CT) across the therapeutic areas of respiratory/lung disease, inflammation, hepatology, and neurodegeneration. This role is distinguished by its integration of traditional imaging with cutting‑edge analytics, including AI/ML‑driven feature extraction and the fusion of imaging with multi-omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and spatial omics).

Continuously evaluating emerging imaging technologies, including key applications to our key therapeutic areas of interest, as Head of Clinical and Translational Imaging you will ensure GSK is always in a front‑running position. You will forge ‘preferred partner’ relationships with external stakeholders including vendors, key opinion leaders, academic and clinical partners, to optimise GSK’s strategy and technology capabilities via access to the latest innovations as well as enhancing GSK’s reputation in this field.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring your vision and leadership to a new era of imaging innovation in clinical pharmacology and quantitative medicine, profoundly impacting patient outcomes and shaping the future of R&D at GSK.

Key Responsibilities

* Strategic Imaging Leadership: Direct the imaging strategy to inform portfolio decisions, with a focus on the four therapeutic areas. Ensure that imaging approaches are tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities in respiratory/lung, inflammation, hepatology, and neuro indications.

* Innovation in Data Integration: Pioneer the integration of imaging with high‑dimensional human disease data, including:

o Human genetics and genomics
o Gene expression (bulk, single‑cell, spatial omics)
o Proteomics, metabolomics, and soluble biomarkers
o AI/ML-driven analysis for feature extraction and multi‑modal data fusion
* Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with clinical, translational, and data science teams to design and execute studies that leverage imaging and multi‑omics for patient stratification, mechanistic insights, and biomarker discovery.

* Portfolio Impact: Champion the use of innovative imaging and analytics to support target validation, clinical trial design, and patient selection, thereby increasing the probability of technical and regulatory success.

* External Engagement: Represent RIIRU in collaborations with academic, clinical, and industry partners, and contribute to the field through publications and presentations.

Innovation Aspects

* AI/ML Integration: Employ artificial intelligence and machine learning for automated image analysis, predictive modelling, and the integration of imaging with omics data—enabling real‑time, personalized insights for clinical programmes.

* Multi‑Omics Fusion: Lead cross‑functional initiatives that combine imaging data with disease phenotyping, genetics, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, driving the discovery of novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and supporting precision medicine approaches in the four focus areas.

* Translational Impact: Use integrated data to enable earlier diagnosis, better patient stratification, and more efficient clinical trials, as demonstrated in external programmes.

Basic Qualifications

* Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant biomedical field.
* Demonstrated leadership in clinical imaging and multi‑omics integration.
* Experience with AI/ML in medical imaging and translational research.
* Track record of innovation and impact in at least one of the four therapeutic areas.
* Strong record of success working in highly complex, matrixed, global, and multi‑disciplinary organisations with high accountability, and multiple lines of reporting.
* Experience working with applicable regulators and regulatory requirements including an understanding of the legal and government frameworks for imaging approaches and associated data management and protection within and across global geographies.

Preferred Qualifications

* Strong people management, leadership, negotiation and influencing skills
* Ability to work collaboratively and successfully across functions
* Ability to build relationships and create authentic alignment while leading high‑performing teams in a collaborative and purposeful manner to achieve defined objectives
