Job overview
We are looking to enhance our clinical team working within the Health Based Places of Safety (HBOS) based on our Adult Acute Inpatient units in Derbyshire. Across Derbyshire we have 2 HBOS suites and a third being built due to open in 4. The team is new and will consist of Band 7 Clinical Lead, Band 6 Lead Nurse, Band 5 HBOS Facilitators and Band 3 Support Workers.
This work can be exciting, challenging and rewarding. The team are looking for someone who is compassionate, caring and able to take direction. This is an exciting and brand-new role which will primarily be based within a team in the HBOS providing support to service users who have been detained by the Police under Section. When you are not in the HBOS you will be asked to provide support to any of the wards within the unit where you are based.
Section HBOS is on the Adult Acute Urgent Care Pathway and all applications are welcome from Registered Mental Health Nurses. The HBOS plays a crucial role in supporting individuals in crisis, who have been detained under section and have been brought to await an in-depth assessment within a -hour period. This highly cohesive team will work very closely to support each other and there is a clear focus on growth and professional development of our nurses. This is supported through mentorship, supervision, training, teaching sessions and access to development days.
Main duties of the job
The team is a new service that has been developed as part of the wider Emergency care pathway. The development of this service will seek to ensure that we are providing and meeting the needs of our population of Derbyshire by providing a greater range of responsive and flexible services.
As a member of the Team, you will adopt the philosophy of the services throughout the trust and provide facilitation and support the care of persons that are bought to the health-based places of safety (HBOS) on a Section of the Mental Health Act. All interventions and management plans will be discussed, and you will be expected to work in collaboration with the Acute Mental Health In-patient team, Derbyshire Police and at times EMAS. Maintenance of well-being and the safety of the person will be paramount during the facilitation process, through to discharge from the Section.
This role will specifically be to facilitate the use of the HBOS with support from a 2nd second worker (support worker role). You will support and monitor the person who is awaiting assessment and oversee the formulation and implementation of appropriate care plans/packages of care for the individual prior to their discharge to ensure that their mental health care is seamless throughout.
The right candidate will be imaginative, enthusiastic and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and de-escalation skills. This current post is for night cover only.
