Staff Officer – Retained Finance Function
Location: Newforge
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Working Pattern: Between 8:00am and 6:00pm, with flexible working hours available
Contract: Temporary – initial 3‑month placement with the possibility of extension subject to business need

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Officer – Retained Finance Function to team based at Newforge. This role plays a key part in delivering core finance operations, including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities, supporting reporting requirements, and overseeing junior staff performance.
The successful candidate will bring strong finance experience, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
3. Deliver Accounts Receivable duties, with Accounts Payable cover as required
4. Manage junior managers and administrative staff, including attendance and performance
5. Carry out daily banking duties, including downloading banking receipts and providing posting information
6. Manage customer remittances
7. Oversee the sales invoice process, including liaising with internal and external customers and preparing currency invoices
8. Support debt management activities
9. Respond to customer and supplier queries via email and telephone
10. Complete month-end reporting, including report production, sales ledger reconciliation, and suspense account management
11. Assist branches with queries relating to AR and AP processes
12. Manage held supplier invoice notifications to release invoices for payment
13. Produce high-level reports for senior management
Essential Experience and Qualifications
14. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a finance team
15. At least 2 years’ experience managing an Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable function
16. Proven experience of managing a team to deliver outcomes against competing priorities
17. Demonstrable experience using computerised accounting systems, including MS Excel
