Design Engineer – Respiratory Protective Equipment – £55,000 + Benefits – Surrey
Are you an experienced Design Engineer with hands-on expertise in breathing valves or respiratory protective equipment (RPE)?
I’m working with an established engineering manufacturer in Surrey who are seeking a Design Engineer to join their growing technical team.
This is a senior, technical role ideal for someone who thrives on taking projects from concept through to production. You’ll be designing and developing safety-critical products used in both industrial and defence applications — ensuring performance, compliance, and reliability at every stage of the process.
The Role
As a key member of the engineering team, you will:

Design and develop high-quality mechanical components for respiratory protective systems.

Lead projects from concept, design, and prototype through to full-scale production.
*
Support testing, documentation, and certification to meet relevant regulatory standards.
*
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and external testing partners.
*
Provide technical input on materials, manufacturing processes, and design optimisation.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
*
Proven experience in breathing valves or respiratory equipment design (essential).
*
Proficiency in CREO Parametric / Pro-Engineer.
*
A strong background in mechanical design and NPI (New Product Introduction).
*
Exposure to injection moulding, rubber moulding, and precision machining.
*
Experience with DFMEA, rapid prototyping, and CAD data management systems (DDM or similar).
*
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to represent the company with clients and suppliers.
A relevant engineering qualification is essential — a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar would be an advantage.
