About The Role

We are seeking a Supervising Scientist / Laboratory Manager to join our team at the Tamworth laboratory. Working with a team of 3 and reporting to the Laboratory Operations Manager, this dynamic role involves supervising laboratory staff and performing hands‑on laboratory work.


Your responsibilities will include:

* Supervising a laboratory with two other medical scientists in a multi‑disciplinary setting (Biochemistry, Haematology/Coagulation, Blood Bank)
* Prioritising work‑flows to meet client requirements
* Ensuring results are released within agreed turnaround times
* Liaising with senior staff and pathologists regarding unusual and abnormal results
* Overseeing the management of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal condition and schedule routine maintenance; performing unscheduled maintenance as required
* Reviewing and updating all laboratory documentation as required


About You

To be considered you will need the following blend of skills:

* An AIMS accredited tertiary degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
* At least 3 years’ experience in a multi‑disciplinary environment
* Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful partnerships
* Experience working under tight deadlines to meet day‑to‑day targets with the capacity to manage multiple tasks within set timelines
* Results‑oriented, proactive and effective problem solver
* Proven skills in prioritising and organising competing tasks to meet deadlines
* Ability to demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity
