Head of Event Operations
Summary
As a key member of Strata’s Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Event Operations is responsible for shaping and executing the strategic vision for our Event Operations function. This senior level role combines operational excellence with proactive business development, client management, and commercial leadership. You will drive growth by expanding our event operations offering, nurturing client relationships, and ensuring world-class delivery across all projects.
We are seeking an experienced leader from the events industry—ideally with a background in outdoor events, expos, event structures, or brand activation—who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You will be the face of our operations offering, both internally and externally, championing our capabilities and identifying new business opportunities across sectors such as FMCG, Drinks, and Automotive.
You will lead a diverse team of event operations managers, warehouse staff, and operators, fostering a culture of accountability, clarity, and collaboration. Your leadership will ensure we exceed client expectations, achieve commercial targets, and maintain the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Development
* Set and execute the strategic direction for Event Operations, aligning with Strata’s overall goals and market opportunities.
* Lead business development for the Event Operations function: identify and pursue new clients, partnerships, and revenue streams; represent Strata at industry events; and develop compelling sales materials and proposals.
* Act as the primary ambassador for our event operations offering, building relationships with existing and prospective clients and promoting our capabilities within the Strata Group and the wider market.
* Collaborate with senior colleagues (including Project Managers, Account Directors, and Group Account Directors) to ensure our offering remains innovative, competitive, and responsive to client needs.
Client Management
* Own key client relationships for event operations projects, acting as the senior point of contact and ensuring a seamless client experience from pitch to delivery.
* Work closely with account teams to understand client objectives, develop tailored solutions, and deliver against brand and commercial expectations.
* Proactively seek client feedback and use insights to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
Operational Excellence
* Oversee the operations management team, warehouse manager, and operator teams, ensuring effective project delivery and resource allocation.
* Ensure commercial success by managing departmental P&L, monitoring revenue, costs, and utilisation, and implementing strategies for profitability and growth.
* Champion health and safety, maintaining robust systems and compliance across warehouse, vehicle, and equipment operations.
* Drive continuous improvement in warehouse management, logistics, and operational processes, including the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
Team Leadership & Development
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
* Implement training and development programs for permanent and freelance staff, ensuring skill development and operational excellence.
* Promote a positive, inclusive, and solutions-oriented workplace culture.
Additional Responsibilities
* Traffic Management: Oversee compliance with Operators Licence and DVLA regulations; manage commercial aspects of the vehicle and plant fleet.
* Supplier Management: Manage relationships with key suppliers, including logistics and transportation partners.
* Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Board on operational performance, health and safety, and business development progress.

* Proven experience in a senior operations or business development role within the events industry.
* Strong commercial acumen, with a track record of winning new business and managing client relationships.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire diverse teams.
* Deep understanding of event operations, logistics, and health & safety best practices.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth and innovation.
