Purpose of Job
The Senior Commercial Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the organisations commercial strategy. This role will initially take the lead on a number of special projects that would typically sit outside of BAU activities, which includes the digitisation of the quotation process to improve efficiency and client experience, review and optimise the profitability of products and services, and drive strategic initiatives that support business growth, market competitiveness, and operational excellence.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Leadership
Develop, implement, and oversee the companys commercial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
Identify market opportunities, emerging trends, and competitive threats.
Lead pricing and margin optimisation initiatives across the business.
Support business development activities through strategic input on tenders, partnerships, and new market entry.
Present regular commercial performance updates to the senior leadership team
Revision and Digitising the Quotation Process
Conduct a review of the existing quotation process to identify efficiencies, with the view to systemising and digitising cross functionally.
Lead the end-to-end transformation of the quotation process, including scoping, selecting, and implementing digital tools/ platforms.
Map current quotation workflows to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for digitisation.
Collaborate with IT, sales, technical and operations teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems (e.g. CRM, BC).
Establish digital quotation KPIs to track speed, accuracy, and conversion rates.
Provide training and change management support for internal teams adopting new systems
Profitability Review & Optimisation
Conduct ongoing profitability analysis of products, services, and client accounts.
Work with finance teams to develop robust costing and margin reporting tools.
Recommend actions to improve margins and optimise the product/service portfolio.
Lead commercial due diligence for potential new offerings or partnerships.
Strategic Commercial Activities
Support in developing value propositions and go-to-market strategies for new products/services.
Implement contract management processes to ensure commercial compliance and risk mitigation.
Lead cross-functional projects to enhance revenue streams and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development
Manage, mentor, and develop commercial team members to achieve departmental and organisational goals.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and client focus.
General Responsibilities

Skills & Experience Required
Proven senior level experience in a commercial or business development role, experience in the construction industry not mandatory, but desirable.
Strong track record in leading digital transformation initiatives, particularly in the sales acquisition process
Strong track record in leading and working within SaaS environments
Advanced commercial acumen, including pricing, margin management, and product profitability analysis.
Excellent contract negotiation and management skills.
Data-driven mindset with proficiency in analytics tools and Dynamics CRM & ERP systems.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop teams.
Qualifications
Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field
Professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS, CIMA, or equivalent) advantageous.

Reduction in quotation turnaround time.
Increase in quotation conversion rate.
Improvement in overall product/service profit margins.
Delivery of commercial strategy milestones on time and within budget.
