About the Company Our client is a dynamic UK-based defence and aerospace company specialising in the design and manufacture of advanced signals intelligence (SIGINT) and counter-drone (C-UAS) systems.
Founded by ex-military specialists, the company focuses on protecting people, places, and privacy through the innovative use of the Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum. Their flagship products provide passive RF drone detection for critical infrastructure and military assets, alongside advanced signals exploitation capabilities. Based in Lincoln, they operate as an agile, multidisciplinary team where software engineering is intrinsically linked to bespoke hardware development.
Role Overview The company designs and builds advanced hardware and software systems that deliver real-world insight from complex data. The software team creates the tools and systems that bring this technology to life, and they are looking for another engineer to join the team.
Key Responsibilities As a Software Engineer, the successful candidate will work on the development of C++ applications that integrate directly with in-house hardware. You will be involved in everything from designing and implementing new features to testing software on live systems.
The engineer will collaborate with hardware and systems engineers, helping to turn ideas into working products. This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems and wants to see their work in action.

Essential:
* Strong understanding of C++ and object-oriented programming.
* A practical approach to problem-solving and delivering working solutions.
* Comfortable working as part of a small, multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable Experience & Skills:
* Experience with Qt for UI design and development.
* Understanding of how software interacts with FPGA-based systems or embedded hardware.
* Background knowledge of RF systems or electronic warfare.
* Experience in building or operating drones.
* Interest in aerospace, sensing, or complex data systems.
What Is Offered This role is primarily on-site at the Lincoln office. Because the software integrates closely with the company's hardware, much of the development and testing happens there. While working from home is possible when needed, the core of the role is collaborative and hands-on.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Software and work alongside a small team of engineers who share responsibility for delivering robust, well-engineered solutions that support the wider business.
This is a nimble SME environment, so while the main responsibilities will focus on software development, the company values people who are enthusiastic to learn and willing to get involved in a range of challenges. If the candidate has other skills, such as soldering, CAD design, or 3D printing, the team would love to hear about them.
