About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join our Purchasing Department. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, supplies, and services required for production. You will play a key part in ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality, while building strong supplier relationships and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Source, negotiate, and purchase raw materials, goods, and services to meet departmental KPIs.
* Establish group buying deals in collaboration with the Procurement Director.
* Raise purchase orders, manage delivery schedules, and resolve invoice queries.
* Monitor stock levels to minimize working capital while ensuring uninterrupted production.
* Support supplier contract negotiations and minimize commercial risks.
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and maintain open communication.
* Liaise effectively with other departments to support business operations.
* Monitor market conditions and identify new products and suppliers.
* Evaluate and resolve material quality, pricing, supply, and delivery issues.
* Provide cost analysis and support cost reduction initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and company standards.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Experience & Skills Required:
Essential:
* Minimum 1 year experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.
* Basic proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Knowledge of supply chain principles and ERP/P2P systems.
* Attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
* Ability to multitask, prioritise, and make competent decisions.
* Proactive problem solver with a can-do attitude.
Preferred:
* MCIPS qualification or working towards it.
* Contract knowledge.
* Data analysis experience.
