Description At Careys, we’re proud to deliver some of the most complex and high‑profile civil engineering projects across the UK. We are now looking for a Site Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality and technically excellent work on site. If you enjoy problem‑solving, being hands‑on, working with great people and shaping real‑world infrastructure, this is a fantastic opportunity. What you will do: Carry out accurate setting out using a variety of surveying equipment. Check levels, dimensions and tolerances to ensure work is completed correctly. Support the Senior Engineer in resolving technical queries and RFIs. Review drawings, raise issues early, and help ensure work is buildable and compliant. Work closely with Site Managers and Supervisors to plan and sequence works. Provide clear construction information to the workforce, including sketches and mark‑ups. Monitor progress and provide input into short‑term planning. Maintain accurate as‑built records and support digital deliverables. Help prepare Inspection & Test Plans and carry out quality checks on site. Identify issues early and support the resolution of non‑conformances. Carry out material checks and ensure correct testing and sampling procedures. Assist with take‑offs and scheduling of key materials such as drainage, reinforcement and waterbars. Complete temporary works inspections and support simple temporary works designs. Supervise Apprentice and Graduate Engineers, offering day‑to‑day guidance. Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to support safe and efficient delivery. Build strong relationships internally and externally to keep information flowing. What You Will Bring: Strong communication and problem‑solving skills. Solid civil engineering knowledge with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications. Experience using digital tools, including AutoCAD/BricsCAD. Confident surveying and setting‑out skills. Experience in inspection, testing and quality assurance of construction materials. 4 years’ experience on major civil engineering projects (infrastructure, rail, highways or utilities).
