Position Summary
The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, and will spend time at Princess of Wales Hospital and Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda. They will complement the existing dermatology service across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and be expected to provide on average 7 clinical sessions per week. The dermatology consultants rotate between outpatients, ward work and subspecialty sessions, allowing protected time for audit, research, teaching and service development.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a first‑class clinical service across the hospitals within the Health Board.
* Lead all staff engaged in the dermatology specialty and sustain a culture of effective communication processes.
* Contribute to service mapping, redesign and the directorate business‑planning process.
* Ensure the provision of a first‑class clinical service and maintain confidence in business plans and development strategies.
* Sustain and develop teaching and research activities wherever appropriate.
* Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and Health Board service plans.
* Maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the directorate and the Health Board.
* Provide clinical care to patients, allowing proper delegation to and training of staff.
* In liaison with consultant colleagues ensure the department functions in line with the Health Board operational/strategic plans.
* Travel between hospitals/clinics as necessary to undertake duties.
* Coordinate on‑call arrangements with the tertiary centre in Cardiff, ensuring appropriate support where required.
* Act in accordance with the RCP guidance in clinic and any Health Board surgical or procedural protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
* Core clinical expertise and knowledge in Dermatology.
* Experience in providing outpatient, ward, and subspecialty dermatology services.
* Demonstrated leadership in a clinical setting with a commitment to service redesign and quality improvement.
* Ability to maintain and develop clinical skills and expertise while overseeing operational duties.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
* Knowledge of the NHS Wales pay and contract framework, including the Agenda for Change structure.

Salary and Pay
The Agenda for Change Pay Award for 2026/27 is effective from 1st April 2026. Successful applicants with a start date from 1st April onwards will receive the salary as per the 2026/27 pay award.
