The University of Nottingham Students’ Union has an exciting opportunity for a Student Insights Researcher Full Time, 35 hours per week Permanent Contract Who are we and what do we do? Here at the University of Nottingham Students’ Union, we are a connected student community. A brilliant, diverse, ambitious community. We are proudly independent from the university and right at the heart of student life. We’re a diverse community from first-year undergraduates to research students, elected student Officers, staff, volunteers, and so much more. Together, we are getting involved, making change, and supporting each other, making student life at the University of Nottingham the very best it can be. We are one of the largest Students’ Unions in the country, connecting student members to share, support and inspire each other while at University. As a registered charity we act as the recognised representative body of all students at the University, and every student is automatically a member free of charge. We provide a range of activities, events, campaigning, commercial and professional services that benefit and support students to get involved, find support, and make change. Through our trading company, UNU Services Limited, we run two SPAR shops, a bar, coffee shop, clothing shop and a print shop. The Student Insights Researcher Role: The Student Insights Researcher supports UoNSU to develop knowledge about the lives of Nottingham students through qualitative, quantitative and desk-based research. You will play a key role in ensuring that our UoNSU officers, staff and student leaders are credible representatives and thought-leaders on the student experience. As part of the Insight and Change team – which forms part of our Research and Representation department – you'll help to actively disseminate our learning to deliver impactful changes to students’ lives and ensure that our action plans, policy recommendations and campaigns are based on our expertise. What we are looking for in our Student Insights Researcher: We’re looking for someone with experience of data analysis and working with statistical tools and who has knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The ideal candidate will have had some experience of sourcing, analysing and presenting secondary data and making clear recommendations on the basis of this analysis. You’ll also have excellent communication skills and be able to manage your time effectively. Experience of specialist tools (e.g. SPSS, Stata, NVivo or PowerBI) is not essential but desirable. Our People Offer When you come to work at the University of Nottingham Students’ Union you bring your skills, experience, talent, commitment and a desire to do a great job. We welcome people from different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs – this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus. We value diversity, promote equity and challenge discrimination.
