An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Nurse to join us in our new Oncology & Haematology Day Unit called The Maple Unit at the Hospital of St Cross at Rugby. Due to the continued expansion of our Service, this is a newly created post.
We treat patients with chemotherapy, as well as other forms of supportive treatment for both oncological and haematological conditions. We work with a large team of Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists, aiming to provide world class care to our patients.
We are looking to recruit a clinical leader to deputise for the Unit Manager as required. You will possess excellent clinical skills, have experience of leading a team and have clinical experience within the speciality. You will be competent in cannulation and venepuncture, the management of vascular access devices and the administration of systemic anti-cancer therapy.
Additional training will be provided in order to enhance your leadership and management skills. You will be well supported by the Unit Manager as well as the Oncology and Haematology Nursing and Management Teams.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
A shift/team leader, providing clinical leadership and management support to the Maple Unit, developing, and evaluating best practice within the department. The post holder will deputise for the department manager as required.
* Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times
* Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team
* A skilled practitioner and clinical leader providing support to the management team, participating in service/policy development
* Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented, and evaluated/audited.
* Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities including HR, resource, and bleep-holder responsibilities as appropriate
