Job Description: Our Soil, Groundwater and Remediation (SGR) Services team is looking for enthusiastic Environmental Graduate Consultants in our Croydon office with immediate effect.
About our Team: AECOM’s UK&I environmental site investigation and assessment divisions are large and integrated within a global network, serving clients across multiple sectors. Our team offers access to specialists, advanced technology, and a strong safety culture.
Projects: We work for leading UK and international clients on commissions of varying scale across sectors including industrial, pharmaceutical, strategic land holdings, ports, road and rail.
Responsibilities
* Design and undertake desk studies, site investigations, risk assessments and remediation solutions, including laboratory procurement for environmental analysis and data interpretation.
* Coordinate field service and laboratory subcontractors; supervise ground investigation works and collect soil and groundwater samples/data at sites in the UK and overseas.
* Compile and interpret field and analytical data into conceptual models to inform risk assessments for human health, groundwater/surface water and ground gas/vapour; design mitigation measures and remediation solutions.
* Promote and implement best health and safety practices throughout the life of a project.
* Learn to apply AECOM’s environmental protection and sustainability principles within the SGR context.
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
* MSc preferred but not essential; degree in Environmental Engineering, Engineering Geology, Applied Geology, Exploration Geology, Environmental Geology, Physical Geography, Hydrology, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering (to include modules on land contamination), Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Mineral Resources, Environmental Chemistry, Land Reclamation and Restoration, Environmental Assessment and Control — all must have an interest in contaminated land.
* Knowledge: practical application of geological and hydro-geological concepts, chemistry; strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); interest in contaminated land.
* Skills: able to work outdoors in varying conditions; willing to travel and work away from home; valid driving licence or reliable transport; flexible with working hours and locations; strong communication skills (verbal and written); ability to work in a team and independently; strong research and report writing; numerate; self-starter with attention to detail; commercial awareness for business development, marketing and proposals.
* Preferred Qualifications: field investigation experience; groundwater data collection; understanding of contaminated land assessment and field sampling; experience in a consultancy environment; language skills are a plus; relevant voluntary or work placements.
