Job Description
Title: Modelling and Simulation Engineer
Location: Derby (Hybrid)
Seniority: Mid Level (5-9 years of experience)
Be part of a cutting-edge energy programme shaping the future of nuclear technology in the UK. This role offers the opportunity to develop and validate high-fidelity models for complex physical systems and support the design of advanced control strategies.
Responsibilities
* Develop dynamic system models for mechanical, electrical, thermal, and fluid systems.
* Design, implement, and optimise control algorithms (PID, state-space, advanced strategies).
* Run simulations to assess performance under a range of operating scenarios, disturbances, and fault conditions.
* Define and support the integration of instrumentation and sensor systems for validation.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across energy systems, controls, and nuclear engineering.
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and project delivery standards.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
* Proven experience in MATLAB and Simulink modelling.
* Strong background in control theory and system simulation.
* Experience in systems engineering or other high-integrity domains.
* Ability to translate simulation results into practical engineering recommendations.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications:
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
* Must be eligible for UK SC Security Clearance (Minimum 5 Years in the UK).
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with model validation and instrumentation.
* Familiarity with safety-critical environments.
