The Opportunity
Our client is looking for a Technical Manager to join their leadership team and take the lead across our UK production facilities. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll be at the centre of everything from new product launches and process improvements to supplier collaboration and operational excellence.
It’s also a rare career opportunity: you’ll report directly to the Head of Operations — and with retirement on the horizon for that role, there’s a clear succession path for the right person to step into that position in the future.
What You’ll Be Doing
No two days will be the same, but here’s a flavour of what you’ll get stuck into:
* Lead and Improve Production: Take ownership of the production processes — including moulding, secondary operations like assembly, and facility improvements — and drive them to the next level.
* Champion New Product Introductions: Work closely with design, engineering, and operations teams to make sure new products are ready for scalable, efficient manufacturing.
* Push the Boundaries of Process Excellence: Introduce and embed modern manufacturing tools and techniques such as Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, FMEA, DFMEA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate Across the Value Chain: Partner with suppliers to source, validate, and onboard new capabilities — and work directly with customers on technical solutions and improvements.
* Lead, Inspire, and Grow: Share your knowledge with our teams, build capability, and help shape the strategic direction of our operations.
What We’re Looking For
We’re excited to hear from people who bring a mix of technical know-how, leadership skills, and a passion for improvement. Ideally, you’ll have:
A degree in Polymer Engineering, Plastics Technology, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
At least 5 years’ experience in plastics product manufacturing — ideally with injection moulding, extrusion, or other high-volume processes.
Hands-on experience with new product introduction and process development.
A track record of driving improvement using tools like Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, FMEA/DFMEA, Lean, or Six Sigma.
Experience working with suppliers and customers on technical projects.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills — someone who enjoys bringing people together to deliver results.
This is a great opportunity to:
A real opportunity to shape the future of our UK operations — and potentially step into the Head of Operationsrole.
A chance to make a tangible impact across multiple sites and product lines.
A collaborative, innovative environment where your ideas will be valued and acted on.
Competitive salary and benefits, plus a supportive team culture focused on growth and development.
