Estimator – Civil Engineering Location: Aberdeen Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent A well-established civil engineering contractor is seeking a dedicated and experienced Estimator to join its Aberdeen-based team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of major projects across groundworks, infrastructure, and utility sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates, working closely with senior management to help secure future work through well-informed and strategic bids. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate the registration, review, and distribution of tender documentation Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain best-value pricing Identify and evaluate potential risks and opportunities at the tender stage Lead estimating activities from initial enquiry through to submission Prepare detailed cost plans and review budgets against project scope Develop and finalise comprehensive tender packages for client approval Undertake quantity take-offs from drawings and price from first principles Analyse and incorporate project risks into cost estimates Produce professional and high-quality tender submission documents and reports Collaborate with the proposal and contracts teams to ensure alignment Manage multiple estimating tasks across ongoing and upcoming projects Work closely with project managers and site teams to maintain consistency Candidate Requirements A degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent industry experience) Demonstrable experience in pricing from first principles and preparing cost plans Substantial estimating experience within the civil engineering sector Familiarity with frameworks and negotiated contract models Experience using industry-standard estimating tools (e.g. Conquest, on-screen take-off software) Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills A methodical, detail-focused approach with the ability to work effectively under pressure What’s on Offer The role offers a competitive salary and benefits package, reflecting the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
