Job description
Role: Footway Sweeper
Salary: D £26,403 - £27,254 a year
Location: Stores Road, Derby
Hours: 37 hours a week
Working days: Monday - Thursday 6am - 2pm, Friday 6am - 1:30pm
Closing Date: 31/10/2025
Contract Type: Permanent
This position is predominantly as a sweeper driver, working across all areas of Derby including most of Derbys Parks. The candidate must be able to pass a sweeper driving course and be competent in driving and operating the smaller mechanical sweeping fleet.
Training will be provided; Flexibility is essential for this post. The post holder is required to carry out other street cleansing duties when required – this is particularly in times of bad weather or when the vehicle is off the road.
A 7.5 Tonne licence is essential for this role with CPC licence desirable.
This position works Monday – Thursday 6am – 2pm and Friday's 6am – 1.30pm, but some flexibility may be required at times with sufficient notice.
The applicant must hold a full UK driving licence.
The applicant must be able to walk long distances, which could be up to 8 miles a day in all weathers.
The applicant will be required to carry out different training courses which will include manual handling, asbestos awareness and drug related litter removal training. The successful applicant must be able to work in all-weather conditions and have a good knowledge of Derby.
Applicants will be required to complete both a written and practical test.
Successful applicants will have to undertake a driving assessment to assess suitability for the position.
