SCADA Engineer Representative
Location: Norwich, UK
Contract Duration: April 2026 – April 2027
Day Rate: £450–£520 per day (Inside IR35)
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 10 hours per day (50 hours per week)
Extension Option: 2 x 6 months
Spencer Ogden is supporting a major onshore energy infrastructure project and is seeking an experienced Senior SCADA Engineer Representative – Commissioning to oversee and coordinate SCADA commissioning activities within EPC Electrical Systems.
This is a senior-level, site-based role requiring a consultant who can operate independently from day one within a fast-paced commissioning environment.
Role Overview
You will take day-to-day responsibility for supervising and coordinating all SCADA commissioning activities on site, ensuring delivery in line with project specifications, National Grid requirements, and applicable HSE legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
Independent supervision of SCADA commissioning (FAT, SAT, SIT and on-site execution)
Managing and coordinating contractors during commissioning phases
Overseeing QA/QC of test documentation and signing off contractor checklists
Driving closure of snag lists and outstanding actions
Drafting and maintaining the SCADA Commissioning Plan (scope, timelines, QA/QC requirements)
Providing structured reporting to the SCADA Package Manager and Commissioning Manager
Ensuring full compliance with grid code and regulatory obligations
Close coordination with Electrical Commissioning Managers and key stakeholders
Technical Scope
The commissioning scope includes:
Communication networks
Radio and telecoms systems
Substation Control Systems (SCS)
WTG SCADA systems and grid compliance validation
Metering systems
VTMS systems (where applicable)
You will ensure all systems are commissioned in accordance with project standards, National Grid compliance requirements, and site HSE rules.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in SCADA commissioning within large-scale energy or infrastructure projects
Strong hands-on experience with:
Hitachi MicroSCADA
Substation Control Systems
In-depth knowledge of National Grid requirements and grid compliance processes
Proven ability to manage commissioning interfaces independently
BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification)
Project management exposure (IPMA B/C, PMP or equivalent – desirable)
Strong documentation and stakeholder management skills
Experience working within structured EPC delivery environments
Valid GWO certification (mandatory)
Willingness and ability to undertake short offshore trips if required
Equipment & Compliance
Consultant must provide own iPhone (latest iOS version)
Corporate security software installation required
PPE required (consultant to supply)
PC provided
