Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Small Specialist Provision) Location: West Molesey Start Date: ASAP About the Provision: We are recruiting on behalf of a very small, specialist SEMH provision in West Molesey that supports a close-knit group of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This setting offers a highly personalised and therapeutic approach to education, making it an ideal environment for someone who is nurturing, resilient, and committed to supporting vulnerable young people. The Role: This is a full-time Teaching Assistant position working closely with students who may experience challenges such as anxiety, depression, abandonment-related trauma, and difficulties linked to the shame cycle. You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and supported in their daily school life. Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:15am – 3:15pm Key Responsibilities: Provide consistent, empathetic support to students with SEMH needs Build strong, trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement Assist in delivering a therapeutic, student-centred approach to learning Support pupils both in the classroom and during off-site activities Accompany students on local trips and activities, including driving school vehicles where required Essential Requirements: Previous SEMH experience (in a school or through a relevant background such as a Psychology degree) A full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to drive school vehicles A calm, patient, and resilient nature Strong understanding of the importance of boundaries, consistency, and relationship-building Desirable (Not Essential): Knowledge or experience of therapeutic approaches in education Familiarity with ASDAN curriculum ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training What We’re Looking For: We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about supporting young people facing emotional and mental health challenges.
