About the Role:
Techner is seeking an experienced OSP Design Engineer with strong expertise in FTTH/FTTx fiber network design. This role involves end-to-end creation of GIS-based fiber designs, engineering packages, construction-ready documentation, and route validations for large-scale U.S. fiber deployment programmes. The engineer will work closely with internal teams and field personnel to ensure accuracy, compliance, and high-quality design outputs aligned with project standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop FTTH/FTTx OSP designs covering feeder, distribution, and drop network routes.
* Produce and manage GIS-based fiber layouts using tools such as ArcGIS, ArcPro, 3GIS, QGIS, and AGOL.
* Prepare KMZ/KML files, fiber maps, route schematics, and engineering deliverables.
* Review, update, and verify CAD drawings, redlines, and construction prints.
* Validate address point databases, service boundary layers, and serviceability datasets.
* Plan FTTH network architecture including splitter locations, routing paths, and GPON design methodologies.
* Generate splicing sheets, fiber assignment diagrams, and OSP documentation packages.
* Perform design validation, quality checks, and corrections based on field feedback.
* Ensure compliance with jurisdictional standards, permitting requirements, and OSP construction practices.
Requirements:
* Candidate must be 3+ years of hands-on experience in FTTH/FTTx OSP fiber network design.
* Strong proficiency with ArcGIS, ArcPro, 3GIS, QGIS, AGOL, or equivalent GIS platforms.
* Ability to interpret and generate CAD-based OSP drawings and construction documents.
* Solid understanding of GPON/FTTH architecture (centralized and distributed split).
* Experience producing KMZ/KML files, fiber maps, engineering packages, and OSP documentation sets.
* Familiarity with U.S. OSP standards, fiber construction methods, and permitting requirements.
* High attention to detail with the ability to manage large datasets accurately and efficiently.
Education & Certifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* GIS certification or fiber design certification preferred, but not mandatory.
What We Offer:
* Competitive compensation aligned with skills and experience.
* Long-term remote opportunity with a collaborative and technically strong design team.
* Exposure to large-scale FTTH programmes and advanced fiber engineering tools.
* A growth-oriented environment with opportunities for professional development.
