Corporate Counsel, AWS Sales & Marketing
Amazon’s Legal Department is seeking a talented cloud services/IT lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in selling to commercial and public sector customers across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, with a primary focus on Italy. AWS leads the cloud computing industry, offering IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more to private and public sector clients.
Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
1. Draft, negotiate, and advise on strategic technology service agreements with enterprise and public sector customers, as well as partners.
2. Provide legal support for local and regional services and initiatives.
3. Offer ongoing legal counsel and interpret regulatory requirements for senior executives and legal teams on product development, operations, security, compliance, data protection, and public policy issues.
4. Participate in other legal team projects, manage legal issues in existing relationships, and handle inquiries from customers and business partners.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, entrepreneurial, enjoy challenges, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations.
This position is based in Rome, Italy, with some regional and international travel required.
Minimum qualifications
* Qualified to practice law in Italy.
* At least 7 years of post-qualification legal experience.
* Experience in a law firm, government, or in-house at a technology company.
* Transactional experience, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and supporting Italian government/public sector procurement.
* Fluency in English and Italian, both written and spoken.
* Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
* Enthusiastic, quick learner, self-motivated, able to work independently, and sound judgment in challenging situations.
Preferred qualifications
* Knowledge of cloud computing, IT infrastructure, and telecommunications laws and regulations.
* Experience with IT transactions and services agreements.
* Engagement with policymakers, regulators, government contracting officials, system integrators, and resellers.
* Understanding of EU government/public sector procurement processes and laws.
