Based on the King’s Road in Chelsea, Saatchi Gallery is dedicated to the promotion and showcasing of contemporary art. The Gallery is seeking a highly motivated and client-orientated individual to join our management team as Head of Events.
Job Description
The Head of Events is the senior position overseeing an operation that generates an important stream of income for the Gallery. The successful candidate will help devise and then implement a strategy to optimise revenue and profit through the delivery of a programme of well-managed and successful events throughout the year. The role will involve the prospecting for clients, securing of contracts and delivery of external events. The role also includes the management of internal Gallery events such as exhibition launches, private views, membership events and events for our corporate sponsors.
Job Requirements
The the role of Head of Events is an office-based position within the Gallery in Chelsea, London. This position is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. The nature of this role means that flexibility is required over specific hours worked. On occasions, hours may need to be worked in the evening, early morning or at weekends.
The salary band for the role is £48k-£58k per annum with an annual incentive scheme linked to the achievement of budgetary goals.
We are looking for candidates with these attributes:
At least 2-3 years in a managerial position at a venue or visitor attraction or with similar managerial experience within an events role
Evidence of delivering high quality experiences for clients and/or achieving excellent results against strategic goals.
Reliable, responsible and trustworthy.
Professional and smart appearance.
Proven ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of a team.
Job Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing the Events team
Including the management of all staff, inbound enquiries, bookings, preparation of contracts, digital engagement, successful targeted marketing & outreach, and the delivery of high-standard events.
Including the maintenance of relationships with key events agencies and finding new and inventive ways to build the Saatchi Gallery Events brand within the UK events industry.
* Forecasting, P & L and development
Including the oversight of all departmental costs and spend, carefully logging and tracking all client invoices & payments and managing margins.
* Liaison with the Senior Management Team
Including collaborating with other heads of department, Gallery Director and trustees to ensure the delivery of strategic goals for the department and the wider organisation.
