About The Role

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of industrial and nuclear safety? At Hinkley Point C, we are looking for two exceptional individuals to join our Investigations team, each bringing a unique skillset to help us learn from the past and build a safer, smarter future. Whether your expertise lies in health and safety or engineering quality, this is your chance to make a real impact on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

We currently have two Investigation Specialist roles available. One is ideal for someone with a strong health and safety background, perhaps already a Coordinator with NEBOSH qualifications and a passion for creating safer environments. The other is perfect for someone with a technical mindset, ideally from an engineering quality background, who enjoys analysing reports, questioning specifications, and ensuring equipment meets rigorous standards. Both roles are central to our mission of continuous improvement and learning, reporting to the Site Investigation Learning Lead within the Safety & Schedule Assurance Directorate.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range for this role is from £55,000. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits such as enhanced parental leave, electric vehicle leasing, health insurance, product discounts, critical illness insurance, technology vouchers, gym membership, and season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility and support collaboration, connection, and comfort whether you work in our offices, on site, or remotely. Our priority is to ensure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

We promote diversity and inclusion, aiming for gender balance and representation from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ community, those with disabilities, and support for social mobility. We are a disability confident employer and will assist with reasonable adjustments during the application process.

We foster a dynamic, inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds and experiences drive innovation. We support your pursuit of a career that’s meaningful to you because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll lead investigations from start to finish, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, developing corrective actions, and embedding lessons learned. Your work will influence risk management and safety improvements across the project.

In the health and safety-focused role, you will guide investigations into incidents, promote safety culture, and utilize your practical experience, especially if you hold NEBOSH qualifications.

In the engineering quality role, you will review technical reports, question non-conformances, and investigate opportunities for improvement, sharing findings with organizations like WANO and IAEA to advance nuclear safety standards.

Who You Are

You have proven experience leading investigations, with expertise in investigation techniques and a passion for continuous improvement. Whether in health and safety or engineering quality, you’re confident working independently and guiding others.

You communicate clearly and work well in collaborative environments. A relevant degree or equivalent, and qualifications like NEBOSH, are highly valued. Experience in regulated or high-risk industries, especially nuclear, construction, or engineering, is essential. You are analytical, IT-savvy, and calm under pressure, ready to make a significant impact.

Closing date for applications is 15th June. Interviews will follow shortly after.
