We are looking for a Production Planning and Logistics Co-ordinator to join our team and help keep our clients' trains running smoothly. You'll plan production to meet customer schedules, forecasts, and demand — calculating labour requirements, managing capacity, and co-ordinating site and off-site logistics to deliver on time.
Main Responsibilities
* Translate projected customer forecasts, bogie overhaul schedules, estimated incoming casualty volumes, and work scopes into a weekly Production Plan and forecasted Block Plan.
* Analyse historical production casualty data and combine this with Block Plan data to improve production forecast accuracy.
* Liaise closely with client-facing sales and customer service teams, adjusting production plans to accommodate rapid demand changes.
* Communicate effectively with Production Expediters, Team Leaders, and Despatch Teams to ensure plans are achieved.
* Report key performance indicators of delivery schedule achievement, backlog data, and production target performance.
* Provide the Production Delivery Manager with a 2-week rolling fixed production plan.
* Organise and liaise with transport providers for efficient and cost-effective movement of products, inventory, parts, and people (including worldwide logistics).
* Manage controlled storage and inventory, including SRS and VTG dirty and clean areas, with continuous improvement measures such as barcoding systems and direct line feed (DLF).
Essential Requirements
* Ideally 2-5 years' experience in complex production scheduling and logistics planning.
* Minimum Grade 'C' or Level 5 English and Maths.
* Proven people skills required, must have ability to work with others while effectively handling internal pressures.
* Excellent Communication Skills (written and verbal).
* Organisational and problem-solving skills required.
Technical Skills
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
* Proven experience with complex planning, forecasting, and product lifecycle programs.
* Experience with Purchasing/Materials tools (MRP, Inventory analysis, part or supplier profiles etc).
Desirable
* Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or rail industry environment.
Expected Outcomes
* Provide a rolling 2-week fixed production plan to the Production Manager on a weekly basis.
* Provide a 3-month estimated forecast of scheduled work.
* Report appropriate KPIs.
* Analyse production floor status through input/output control reporting.
* Improve site logistics and efficiency.
