Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Water Infrastructure (NEC / AMP Frameworks)
Location: Hybrid (Site near Watford, 2 days per week)

Rate: £400 per day (some flexibility for the right person)
We’re recruiting a Freelance Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a Tier 1 contractor delivering major water infrastructure works on a long-term AMP framework.
The role is to help manage a spike in workload following a recent package of additional work from the end client. It’s an initial 3–6 month contract, but if you perform well, there’s a strong chance it will extend. Several of our surveyors on this framework have been there for 12+ months, with the longest now over two years.
The Role
You’ll be joining a solid, experienced commercial team and taking ownership of typical QS responsibilities:
Managing change events and supporting with compensation events (CEs)
Updating risk registers
Dealing with subcontractor queries and disputes
Payment applications
Supporting CVRs and general commercial management
This isn’t a training role. We need someone confident, capable, and ready to hit the ground running.
What We’re Looking For
NEC contract experience (essential – other forms like JCT won’t be suitable)
Water infrastructure experience strongly preferred (civils background ideal)
Consideration may be given to candidates from Tier 1 civils backgrounds if not water-specific
Proven experience managing the full QS function
Able to work autonomously within a large framework team
Available to start quickly
