Job Title: Airside Operations Team Leader
Role Overview
Lead airside loading teams with full ownership and accountability for operational performance, including on-time performance (OTP), standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance, on-the-job coaching, and monitoring. Serve as an ambassador for gategroup's company values.
Primary Objective
Reporting to the Duty Manager, lead, motivate, develop, and coach transport teams while driving improvements in productivity and efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives and safe operational practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate team operations to meet business, departmental, and customer objectives
* Conduct daily performance monitoring of team members and elevate concerns to the Airside Section Manager and Transport Managers
* Build and maintain collaborative relationships with airside business partners to identify and promote best practices
* Supervise performance management, productivity, and compliance of service delivery teams in the airside environment, including addressing underperformance and at-risk behaviors according to company procedures and Airport (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations, particularly vehicle control compliance
* Oversee the development, maintenance, and implementation of hazard management systems, airside audits, total quality management programs, and training for all airside personnel, including drivers and loaders
* Resolve conflicts and provide solutions through effective influencing, negotiation, and communication
* Foster a positive and productive work environment
* Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety, Department for Transport (DfT) regulations, and security requirements; conduct SQOR audits and manage outcomes; champion gateOPEX operational excellence initiatives
* Follow and enforce company, process, and departmental procedures to maintain safe work practices, drive efficiency improvements, and ensure contractor compliance; implement airside logistics contingency plans as needed
* Lead and support continuous improvement projects
* Act as deputy for the Airside Section Manager when required
* Work flexibly across a 7-day operation, including early and late shifts
